Boudoir Sessions for Plus Sized Woman
It was just a normal day for us here at the studio. We were working on building our cute lingerie Pinterest boards, always looking for more amazing inspiration while trying to find gaps we could fill, and we noticed that many women were searching for plus-sized boudoir lingerie.
Our immediate reactions was: "Whoa! We definitely could help!"
It's no secret that until now, being plus size was treated like a dirty secret by society. If someone wasn’t size 0 wore anything that showed their shape, it was like an elephant in the room (no pun intended). This drives us CRAZY!
Like, who even decided what type of body was the ideal or best? At our studio we not only believe, WE KNOW that all bodies are good bodies from size 00 to size 32 and beyond.
But our society has done its best to establish weirdly impossible ‘norms’ for what women’s bodies should look like (meanwhile if you do fit their specific mold you are judged for being fake or plastic - but that is a topic for a different blog!). If you are anywhere outside of those norms - there is an implicit message that says you don’t matter, you aren’t beautiful, your body is not worth being seen.
If you are anything like us, this may make you want to shake the-powers-that-be and yell “DID YOU FALL ASLEEP IN YOUR BIOLOGY CLASS OR ARE YOU JUST IDIOTS?”
Because it seems like they have all forgotten to take into consideration the fact that there are huge variations in body type, skeletal frames, genetic predispositions….
I am no biologist, but from what I remember there is always significant genetic variation between members of a single species. That means that even if all humans followed the same diet and exercise routine - there are different human body shapes and physique types. No amount of working out or eating a specific diet will make you six feet tall and slender if you were born to be six feet tall and curvy. Unless you have some sort of magic that defies biology, you cannot just change that.
Also I just want to take a moment to remind everyone that size does not indicate overall health. You can be tremendously thin and amazingly unhealthy, while on the other side you can be overweight and thriving. Body type bias is real - as is the fact that we are born with our bodies being predisposed to a certain shape.
A plus-size woman can have exactly the same amount of body fat as someone who isn't plus-sized, but look entirely different because of genetic composition
But our society doesn’t seem to care about that, does it? It just wants to dictate how we all should look regardless of who we were created to be. But we at LGEmerick Studios and Brave Boss Babe Boudoir are here to say:.
Every BODY is BEAUTIFUL. ALL BODIES ARE GOOD BODIES.
Small, medium, big - no matter your body frame, YOUR BODY IS BEAUTIFUL.
