You Have NEVER Thought About Boudoir Like This! - Heartwarming Story

Have you ever felt completely out of touch with yourself?

In my studio this is a story I hear every week.

I listen to women who know there is a bright, shining version of themselves hidden inside somewhere, but the stress and busyness of life have totally buried it.

They often aren't sure exactly when or how the cover-up happened, and are equally unclear on how to get back that spark they covered.

That is where boudoir and the Buddha comes in.

Around 700 years ago in Thailand the most remarkable 10-foot tall statue of the Buddha was crafted out of solid gold. It gleamed and glistened under the constant care of the monks for hundreds of years, but then around the 1760s the same caretakers covered up the golden Buddha with a thick layer of plaster.

It is debated why they did such a thing to the prize statue, but the general consensus is that it was to protect the statue from harm during an invasion.

And isn't that what we all do?

As we go about life we build up a defensive shell that covers the stunning golden core of who we are to keep us safe.

Then the years go by - and we forget about that true sparkling self hidden under the spackle and mud shield we've created.

That is what happened to the golden Buddha statue as well. For hundreds of years the Buddha sat hidden beneath the dull gray stucco used to protect it until one day - it cracked.

What did the crack reveal?
Well a priceless treasure - of course!

With great care and work from skilled professionals - the giant golden Buddha was peeled from its protected shell piece by piece until it could be seen in its true radiant glory!

And that is what I see time and time again in my studio during a boudoir session.

Women who have built up this shell to protect themselves from the expectations and pressures of the world allow me to chip away the plaster until their true, luminous beauty shines through!
